Cendris is a specialist for direct mailing. The process of printing and packing the mail is fully automated and the new building had to be built around the machinery. The organisation of the entire process needed to be reflected in the building.
The big aluminum 'box' forms the heart of the acility: production and storage. The offices and company restaurant are located 'on the roof' of the mail hall. The entire building forms a great H-shape. The entire building is made from prefabricated concrete.
The actual production takes up half of the hall while storage takes up the other part. The storage space has an inner height of 9 meters; the production area is further divided with mezzanine and production offices.
Climate control was a key issue. In the end it was decieded to put floor heating into the hall, which not only heats in the winter but which also uses ground water pumps to cool the building in the summer.
